Pinewood Derby Cars

Kids Ministry

Giving back is important!

My travels and work have allowed me to meet people from all walks of life and socioeconomic backgrounds. I have been blessed, and I enjoy giving back and helping others. One of my favorite ministries is the local prison I have partnered with. I make pinewood derby cars out of wood and give them to the children of incarcerated men. The children enjoy decorating them. In addition, we provide a racetrack, so the kids can race their cars with their dads.

Description

This project takes several days and several people to make it happen. My wife, grandson and good friend, Ed, have joined in to help build these cars. Each car is cut and shaped from a block of wood, thoroughly sanded, painted and put together with wheels and axels. After all the cars are completed, Ed and I count them. We want to be sure that everyone gets their own car to take home. We don’t want any child to go home without one.
